Concordia FAQs

Q: Where is Concordia Church Located?

A: Click here to link to our location page and see parking options.

Q: What is Concordia all about?

A: Click here to learn more about who we are.

Q: I’m not a member. Can I still participate in Holy Communion?

A: We invite all who are baptized in Christ to join us at the Lord’s Table. Communion is distributed by “continuous table,” that is, as openings appear in the people gathered around the altar, you may step forward and kneel at the altar. The distribution of the cup is offered both by the common cup and by the availability of small communion glasses, available at the first pew on the right. Gluten-free hosts are available; please speak to Pastor Zook or Pastor Adam. After you have communed, return to your seat. Anyone unable to come to the altar should inform the usher and communion will be brought to you at your seat.

Q: What are Sunday services like at Concordia?

A: Concordia holds two worship services each Sunday at Concordia on Seeley and one worship service at Concordia on Whipple on the last Sunday of the month. All services include the celebration of Holy Communion each week. At Seeley, the first worship service includes a spoken liturgy. Quiet, contemplative, and intimate, this service lasts approximately half an hour. Year-round, this service is held at 8:30 AM. At 10:30 AM, during the school year, children are invited to attend Sunday school. Click here to learn more about our Sunday school offerings. The second worship service includes a full liturgy with music by Concordia's organist and choir. This service is festive, celebratory, and child-friendly, and lasts approximately one hour. This service is held at 10:30 AM. All are invited to join in fellowship after worship.

Q: I have children. How family-friendly is Concordia?

A: Very! We have a large cross-section of young families who are part of our growing congregation and we are proud to offer many ways to engage children, at their own age level, so that they enjoy coming to church and have a true opportunity to grow in faith. Pew Pals: We offer “Pew Pals”, a stuffed animal your child can choose, to play and pray with during worship. We also have Story books and chairs for parents and young children in the Baptistery. Children's Sermon: All children are invited to come to the altar after the 2nd reading to join the Pastor, as he gives the Children’s sermon. The sermon will relate to the Bible story and theme of the week the children will learn in Sunday school. Parents are also welcome to come to the altar with their children during this time.

Q: What should I know before visiting Concordia for the first time?

A: Nothing. Greeters are available to answer any questions you may have about a particular part of the worship service or Concordia Church. Greeters will ask you to fill out a visitor card if you are new to Concordia. Please fill out one of our visitor cards so we can include you in our newsletter mailings. If you have any questions, Pastor Nicholas Zook or Pastor Adam Varner will be glad to speak with you.

Q: What’s a good way to meet others attending Concordia?

A: Following the second worship service, all are invited to join us in Fellowship Hall downstairs for light refreshments and a casual social gathering. We hope you to see you there!
